Oppose Unsafe Everley Care Home Development
Once again there a planning application has been submitted for the former Everley Care Home, and once again the application is lacking in detail, provides conflicting information, and if passed we worry about the safety of residents of the property, and its impact on neighbouring properties – concerns shared by the local police team.
We am sure we do not need to tell you that the conduct of Halesowen Hannaster, the owners of the property, has been poor. The failure to communicate with residents has left us all concerned about the exact nature of their plans for the site, and the planning application does little to clear that up.
If you agree with us that this application should be rejected, then please consider co-signing the letter below by adding your signature online. If you are unable to sign the petition online, please let Cllr Ryan Priest know on 07376 766526, either by text with you name and full address, or over the phone. Please note that by signing this letter you are consenting to your details being displayed publicly on the Planning Departments website.
The application for the conversation of the existing 14 bed residential care home to 8 apartments at 15 Lyde Green should be rejected for the following reasons:
There has been a failure to appropriately define the care needs of prospective residents of the home, notably the failure to define the specific vulnerabilities of those in receipt of care and adaptions to the property to support these vulnerabilities.
The failure to address concerns around appropriate staff parking capacity.
The proposed plans are likely to lead to overcrowding, with a suggestion of up to three people per apartment.
While we of course support and encourage the development of assisted living properties, in Cradley and beyond, there is a need to for both existing residents and the residents of assisted living properties that the development is sustainable and provides a good and safe quality of life. These proposals leave far too many questions unanswered on the safety of future residents.
Yours Sincerely,
Cllr Ethan Stafford
